Be A Man!

Before my great-grandmother passed away, she offered me an interesting take on life. This was before I was married. She was no longer able to walk so she would just lie in bed and I would come into her room to check up on her and talk. My aunts were in the room with me when she told me:

"When you get married, you need to be a man. Get yourself a few concubines so that you can exert power over your wives and show all women how much power you have."

My aunts started chuckling while I tried to hold a straight face and did what I always do when she talks to me. I said, "Yes, great grandmother."

Then my aunts asked her, "So, did grandfather have concubines?"

She shot back, "NO! If he did, I would've killed him."

Sometimes, they're true

I was watching this clip of comedian Carlos Mencia and laughed my ass off. His skit went something like:

"(Pretending to talk to himself as somebody else). No Carlos, that's not it. The school system is corrupt. (Answering) No. If the school system is corrupt, then why is it that Asians kick our asses in that same school system. You want me to tell you why? No lie. Parents! To the rest of the world, it's 'Charlie, today is the first day of school Charlie. You go and do the best you can, Charlie. The best you can. That's all we ask of you.'
Asians?
'Today eees da first day of schooool. De most eeemportant day of your rife. If you bring home report caaawwwd wit one B, I KILL YOU.'"

Want to know why that is so funny to me? It's because my parents actually said that...In Vietnamese, but they still said it.

For the Record...

Recent debates online has prompted me to respond to numerous identical responses. As you know, several blog sites have been talking about the shit going on in the middle East with the cartoons about the prophet Mohammed.

Several times, I have come across ignorant people who state, "It's not all Islam." Well, no fucking shit! We all know it's not all of fucking Islam that's doing it. However, we do know and blatantly acknowledge that it's a good number of people that do it.

It appears that the people who make the statement "It's not all Islam" are so ignorant to believe that most people nowadays are so stupid to think that EVERY SINGLE follower of a particular belief accepts everything that the belief espouses. Apparently, they're "superior" in their beliefs because everyone else is dumb in assuming that every single person that is assigned a stereotype must fit the mold. But, that's okay because they're "open minded". Yet, they still assume that the rest of the free thinking world are morons when they criticize a particular group because we're so obviously criticizing everyone in that group. How these people can really and truly believe this nonsense only exposes how ignorant they really are. Yet, they are the ones that call others ignorant. Hello pot, meet kettle.

Attention Ignorant people, WE KNOW IT'S NOT ALL OF ISLAM. But, we are not stupid to denounce the fact that there is a significant number of those who do in fact riot causing death and destruction throughout the Middle East. We are not the ones who are distracting attention away from this vital subject. You, in a sense, excuse the behavior because you have more resentment against a misguided belief than the actual current situation.

Update

Sorry to be neglecting this blog. Grandma has taken a turn for the worse. I told the elders that they need to stop giving her fatty or fried foods because the tumor is obstructing the bile duct and when you eat fatty foods, bile is secreted to emulsify fat. But, since the duct is obstructed, it could cause problems. The only problem is, she loves fried food. I don't want to take the joys in her life away, but the joys in her life (fried foods) are making her worse. Then again, she is dying. I don't know what to do.

All this and at the same time I'm trying to get a practice started so that I can provide for the family. My parents are encouraging me to work under another doctor first so that I can get experience. I don't blame them, but I think I'm ready to tackle on this life that I've been preparing for all this time.

On top of that, my laptop needs more repairs. Needless to say, I'm a little stressed right now.
